Song #1 is Waylon Jennings from his first album during the Bakersfield days.

Song #2 is the famous Marty Robbins hit "El Paso"

Song #3 is the Buck Owens version of "Truck Driving Man" -- a song performed by almost every artist, including many that are not country

Song #4 is Hal Ketchum's "Mama Knows The Highway", a truck driving tune often overlooked. (It is slightly newer)

Song #5 is the famous Patsy Kline classic "I Fall To Pieces" and no country classic playlist would be complete without it.

Song #6 is Bill Anderson's classic "Bright Lights And Country Music."

Song #7 is by The Wilburn Brothers and is "Trouble's Back In Town." Between 1955 and 1972 the Wilburn Brothers scored 30 chart hits, including "I Wanna Wanna Wanna," "I'm So in Love With You," "Go Away With Me," "Which One Is to Blame," "Trouble's Back in Town," "Roll Muddy River," and their biggest single, 1966's "Hurt Her Once for Me."

Song #8 is the Johnny Horton classic "North To Alaska", a song that received plenty of air time all across the country for months in 1960.

Song #9 is the song that launched Connie Smith to stardom. "Once A Day" was written by Bill Anderson and was released in September 1964.

Song #10 is Gene Watson performing "14 Carat Mind" which is a newer song. In 1982, after switching to the MCA label, Gene Watson recorded the only number-one hit of his career, "Fourteen Carat Mind." It has the honky tonk sound of the 60's and is included for your listening pleasure.

Song #11 is Porter Wagoner performing "Till The Right One Comes Along" which is just one in a string of hits from 1954 to 2007 by the thin man from West Plains Missouri.

Song #12 is "Makeup And Faded Blue Jeans" by Merle Haggard. It is a great example of Merle's early music, and is one of the harder songs to find in Merle's extensive collection of hits..

Song #13 is by Johnny Bush, a member of Ray Price's band in the sixties. We included "Jim, Jack, And Rose" as an example of Johnny's great Texas music.

With song #14 we remember Jimmy C. Newman with "Allons A Lafayette" which is a tribute to his Cajun music, the Louisianna Hayride days, and Jimmy's transition between country music and Cajun music
