Raised in Nashville, Tennessee, the capital of Country Music, Amber Digby is one of the most refreshing country singers in the first decade of the new century. She recorded her first album “Music from the Honky Tonks” in 2002. It received much attention from all over the world, selling worldwide and creating an overwhelming base of fans. For the last two years, her first CD, “Music from the Honky Tonks”, and her second project “Here Come The Teardrops” have been at the top of numerous charts on the radio and internet broadcast stations.

In summer of 2006, Amber signed with Heart of Texas Records (based in Brady, TX) and released her second CD, “Here Come the Teardrops”, sending her back for another European tour, to Sweden and Norway. Digby just returned from a trip to France where she headlined her own shows and worked with John Schneider (of Dukes of Hazard fame).

Amber is also in high demand as a harmony vocalist on other artists’ projects. Her session work includes the following:

  •  Ferlin Husky – “The Way It Was”
  •  Pretty Miss Norma Jean – “Loneliest Star In Texas”
  •  Leona Williams – “I Love You Because”
  •  Justin Trevino – “Before You Say Amen” & “Take One As Needed For Pain”
  •  Jake Hooker – “Faded Lights” & “The Outsider”
  •  Megan Treadaway – “The Road Ahead”
  •  Tony Martinez – self-titled
  •  Johnny Lyon – “Wynn Stewart Favorites”
  •  Red Jenkins – “Neon Bible”
  •  Becky Braun – “Why Didn’t I Listen”
  •  Cornell Hurd Band – “Beyond the Purple Hills”
  •  Dennis Ivey – “Something Old, Nothing New”

Digby came from a musical family

Amber Digby truly comes from a country music background. Her parents have been in country music for decades: her mother Dee was a harmony singer with Connie Smith, and her father Dennis Digby played bass for Loretta Lynn for almost twenty years. Her uncle is legendary entertainer Darrell McCall. Her step-father, Dicky Overbey, is considered a steel guitar legend and played with the likes of Faron Young, Connie Smith, Hank Williams, Jr., Ronnie Milsap, Johnny Bush, and currently plays with Amber. In this musical family, the young Amber literally grew up on stage. Being a born entertainer, she began realizing her dreams already at the age of three.

What others are saying

I know what our readers are saying. Here is what others are saying about Amber Digby:

“When I first heard Amber Digby, I was so impressed. She has one of the finest real country voices that I have ever heard. We need more Amber Digbys in today’s country music.” – Leona Williams, Country Music Legend

“Amber Digby is an awesome talent. She presents country music with the verve of an old pro, and as far as I’m concerned, she is one of the brightest upcoming stars in country music.” – Tony Booth, Country Music Legend

“Wow can this lady deliver a country song. And Amber Digby has a voice that is unblemished and pleasure to listen to. Amber Digby is as country as country can get” – Roots Music Report

“I am not impressed with many female vocalists in the country music business. Amber is an exception. She puts so much feeling into her music that you have to be impressed with her.” – Frankie Miller, Country Music Legend

“Amber is helping to carry the torch for our country music. If the business was right, she would be a superstar, already.” – Ferlin Husky, Country Music Legend

While I am thinking the same thing that Ferlin is saying, I’m not going to go there during this session. However, Amber’s popularity extends to everyone. Country music fans tell me they can’t get enough of Amber Digby. If they don’t hear one of Amber Digby’s songs right after they turn on the radio, some fans call me here at The Country Classics and say “They aren’t playing as much as they used to,” or “I haven’t heard Amber Digby yet.”

I think they are playing as much or more of Amber these days, but when you really like someone’s music you listen for it more often. Here are more quotes:

“Her songs overflow with heartache, misery, cheating lovers, sorrow, regret and resignation. She digs down really deep, making us believe that she lived a life of heartache and pain.” – B. John Zavrel, Museum of European Art – Buffalo, NY

“…Digby’s sweet voice, (is) a throwback to the ladylike stylings of Tammy Wynette…” – Joey Guerra, Houston Chronicle
