Featuring The Singing Cookes and I Didn’t Leave Here Like I Came
The Singing Cookes perform our Gospel song of the day with “I Didn’t Leave Here Like I Came.” You can play the song from their website, along with many more. The song is bluegrass gospel at its best and sure to please.
The Singing Cookes are from Kingsport Tennessee. Playing and bringing God’s word to people since 1962, the Cookes became very successful with their first national release, “He Rows Me over the Tide.” There often is no admission to see The Singing Cookes, and an offering is taken instead. Another song you may be familiar with is “I Hope We Walk the Last Mile Together,” which reached #1 in the Gospel Voice Distributors Top Sales Chart, in the early spring of 1994. Most of all, though, the Cookes were ministering to souls, and seeing people give their lives to Jesus Christ.
“I Didn’t Leave Here Like I Came” is an example of giving our lives to Jesus Christ, a bluegrass gospel song, and a real toe-tapper. The music is wonderful, their dedication is pure, and The Singing Cookes are the personification of real country music. The song is on SC-47 “Bluegrass Gospel #2″
In writing this article I wish to thank Carol Lynn, the Alabama Country and Gospel Music Association radio personality of the year and recipient of the 2006 ACGMA Award. Bless you my friend, and thanks for playing the song on WQAH.
