Featuring “Just Dance” by Bode Barker as the CD of the week
“Just Dance” is the title of Bode Barker’s CD and this star of Texas music is a gifted songwriter and artist. Only featured twice so far on season one of Tru Country on RFD TV, we certainly hope to see more of him. Every song on his “Just Dance” CD is spectacular and listeners fall in love with Bode Barker’s voice. “Just Dance is The Country Classics featured CD of the week.
“Just Dance” starts off with “Forget About The Bad Times”, a great song written by Bode that immediately highlights Bode Barker’s songwriting talents. The band compliments background vocals by Lorraine Willey. I would love to see this song become a country classic, and there’s no reason why it shouldn’t receive airplay for the next fifty years or more.
Track two is “April’s Fool”, a song we saw Bode Barker perform on Tru Country on RFD TV. Steel guitar by Steve Palousek is absolutely amazing on this track, while Bode Barker’s voice is so soothing. You’ve seen and heard Bode singing “April’s Fool” on television, and now is the time to hear it on CD. You’ll be glad you did.
Track three is the Lou Rochelle honky tonk hit “There’s Still A Lot Of Love In San Antone’. Lou write a winner with this song and Bode Barker does it to perfection. As soon as the fiddle kicks off the song you know you are in for a treat, while Bode Barker’s voice is perfect. A great artist with a great song is a winning combination.
Track four is another Bode Barker composition titled “If I’m Sorry Meant I Love You”. Starting with a cajun fiddle sounding intro, the song soon made me wonder why “If I’m Sorry Meant I Love You” is not on the Billboard top 10. The song is well rounded and beautifully written.
Track five is “I’ve Got 90 Proof”, a song written by Steve Palousek. A remarkably fresh honky tonk song, “I’ve Got 90 Proof” is a perfect fit for Bode barker’s voice and a joy to listen to. Kudos to Steve for writing a great honky tonk hit.
Track six is “Green Snakes On The Ceiling”, written by Johnny Bush. With a driving beat and Bode’s great voice, this is a great version of “Green Snakes On The Ceiling”. The band has fun and is perfect. You’ve heard “Green Snakes” on Willies Place, Honky Tonk Junky, and My Texas Music, but you must hear Bode Barker’s version. Nothing can compare.
Track seven slows thing down a little with “Every Time I Close My Eyes”, written by Steve Becker. The song gives you almost four minutes of good slow-dancing music. The listener can hear every perfect note and fingers on the strings as Bode Barker sings this heart-felt song.
Track eight is “Half A Mind”, so Nancy and I can keep dancing while we listen to this beautiful song written by Bode Barker and Lenny Cochran. It is clearly obvious that Bode Barker is a talented man with a great future ahead. “Half A Mind” is refreshing enjoyable.
Track number nine is a song originally released by Ray Price titled “A Different Kind Of Flower”. I’ve liked the song since the first day I heard it and Bode Barker performs it to perfection. Gary Sefton wrote the song. Ray Price sets the bar pretty high but Bode Barker and the band not only meet the listener’s expectations but also exceed them. Beautifully accomplished and well performed, Bode Barker sets an example for everyone else to emulate.
Beautiful fiddle, steel guitar, and piano compliment Bode’s great voice on track ten, “I’ll Go To A Stranger”, written by Dave Kirby.
Make sure you visit Bode Barker on Myspace. We certainly look forward to seeing him on season two of Tru Country. He has a new CD coming out in the near future, and we will tell you all about it when the CD is released. Check back for more.
