David Lynn Jones Truck Driving Song Bonnie Jean (Little Sister)

Back in 1987 I bought a David Lynn Jones CD titled “Hard Times on Easy Street”. One truck driving song prompted me to buy the CD, and it was Bonnie Jean (Little Sister). Many of you might remember the words “Peter built a truck for a man to drive” and some other nice words to the song. “She was in love with Kenny and Jimmy and Mack” sang David in this song about a woman truck driver.

We found the song on Youtube. As I found my CD in the library I remembered a quiet start to the song, which is what you’ll hear on this Youtube version. David Lynn Jones highest charting single, “Bonnie Jean (Little Sister),” peaked at #10 in 1987. I guess a lot of other people liked it too.

David Lynn Jones is a song writer. What many people don’t know is that David Lynn Jones wrote “Living in the Promiseland,” a #1 hit for Willie Nelson in 1986.

As far as trucking driving country songs go, I don’t care if you call it country, rockabilly, Southern Rock, or what you call it as long as you call it a good truck driving song. This song is truly a country music truck driving classic:

UPDATE of January 4, 2010: Unfortunately the video was removed from Youtube.
