My good friend Carol Lynn at WQAH in Hartselle Alabama plays some great bluegrass, traditional country music, and the country classics. She pointed out Dailey & Vincent when I needed a bluegrass article for today. Carol Lynn played “Years Ago” by Dailey and Vincent.
Some folks called Mac Wiseman a folk singer, while others say his is a bluegrass legend. I remember hearing him on country radio. No history of country classics would be complete without Mac Wiseman, so I’m adding the first song I heard by Mac Wiseman – “Jimmy Brown The Newsboy”.
Frequently the information in our bluegrass category comes from North Alabama and Kentucky, but today we feature Carrie Hassler and Hard Rain. The new Carrie Hassler & Hard Rain 2008 release “CHHR2″ is out. Visit their website to hear some great bluegrass tracks like “I Can Go Back Any time,” “1800 Miles,” and the Bob Seger hit “Turn The Page.”
“Take Me Back To Happy Valley” by The Bailey Brothers is a bluegrass song with plenty of history. The Bailey Brothers, who began performing in the late 1930s, were among the first bluegrass acts to employ the tight vocal harmony technique that became known as the brother duet style.
