The Llano Country Opry will be staged on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the Lantex Theater in downtown Llano. The show begins at 7:30 PM and admission is $10.00 per person.
Ruby Wright, the daughter of Kitty Wells and Johnny Wright, passed away last night at the age of 70.
Ruby toured with her parents road show for many years and was part of their television program as well.
Taylor Swift and Nashville caused, to some extent, the problem Swift had at the MTV Video Music Awards. I wasn’t going to acknowledge “Gangsta Taylor Swift” back in June. For those of you that think The Country Classics is written by those with a myopic narrow field of focus, I beg to differ. I monitor almost everything, and acknowledge very little.

Darrell McCall will headline the Marble Falls Opry this month. McCall grew up listening to the music and guitar picking of Merle Travis. He started his own Saturday morning country deejay show on WSRW radio in Hillsboro Ohio, at the age of fifteen. McCall began playing dances as a musician and joined the United States Army Reserves after high school.

Startex Records announced the arrival of Jake Hooker’s latest CD, “Lost Along The Way”. As with Jake’s past CDs, this new CD is 12 of the most traditional, honky-tonk, fiddle and steel songs and is probably Jake’s best to date.
KNEL’s Hillbilly Hits Radio Show is back online beginning Thursday night. We will broadcast on the world wide web each Thursday evening between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM Central Time and then the show will be rebroadcast on Saturday nights between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM Central Time.
