Honkin it with Hank Thompson and Wake Up Irene
We’re honkin’ it today with Mr. Hank Thompson and a song that Gary Hightower liked to play on XM-13, Willies Place. In fact we will probably feature more honky tonk music to fill in for a while.

We’re honkin’ it today with Mr. Hank Thompson and a song that Gary Hightower liked to play on XM-13, Willies Place. In fact we will probably feature more honky tonk music to fill in for a while.
Today’s featured song on The Country Classics is Ron Williams “There’s One on Every Jukebox In Town” is another great song from the CD “Texas Style.” Here is a look at Ron Williams. You can click it for more information:
NOTE: Update of November 17th. Eddie Kilroy’s bio is still missing from the XM-13 website, but he is slotted for 7 - 11. Eddie is on right now, playing songs that “put a lot of rocks in the driveway” - and the songs that made Willie’s Place as great as it is. Perhaps the XM-13 website is in transition. I talked with Eddie about the transition under the new XM - Sirius corporation. Catfish officially retired from Willie’s Place so he can do some fishing and take it easy. He certainly deserves it, and we already miss him.
Call it traditional country music, Texas music, or just plain good. Today’s featured song is a winner from Mona McCall. “Keeper Of My Heart” has all the makings of a great country song. Fiddles, steel guitar, great vocals, a beautiful voice and a little bit of Cajun French thrown in for good measure makes this our pick of the day.
Those of us that remember the country classics remember the many songs of Charlie Walker. Today’s featured song is Charlie Walkers “A Honky Tonk In Dallas (Was To Blame)”, but Charlie Walker did sang more songs with “Honky Tonk” in the title than anyone else. Of course I have no second source or reference to that fact, but I put forth some of the list:
Honky Tonk Season
Honky Tonk In Dallas
Don’t Put Down The Honky Tonks
Close All The Honkly Tonks
Out Of A Honky Tonk
Honky Tonk Song
And the list goes on — I rest my case.
